History
It started in the year of 1927. A piece of land of 290 acres was bought. However, it took another 10 years before permission was given to build an airport there. A hangar, terminal, administration building with 4 runways was allowed. The name of the airport became Truax Field. During the war it was used as a training center by the Army Air Corps. After the war, Madison Municipal Airport continued to be used by Air National Guard fighters. Due to the passenger growth in the 1960’s, a new terminal was opened. Several decades later, several expansions were made to increase capacity. Today there are 13 gates with sky bridges.
