About Southampton Airport
The airport of Southampton was inaugurated in 1910 for the first Southampton flight departures, so it has been in operation for more than a century. This airport served both the First and Second World War as an airbase for the United States to process SOU airport departures. However, from 1960 onward, it was taken over by the AGS airport, which has remained its sole owner.
This airport is the focus city for prominent airlines such as British Airlines and Blue Air who processes most Southampton Airport departures. You can take tourist SOU departures to destinations such as Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Palma de Mallorca, or Dublin in Ireland from this facility.
Location for Southampton departures
The airport is located between Southampton and the city – district of Eastleigh in the county of Hampshire. From Southampton, you have to travel 4 miles to reach the international airport.
Transport at Southampton Airport
When you land at the distinguished Southampton Airport, you will have several means of transport at your disposal:

Parking
There are four different locations to park, although long stay parking is not always open. Partly for this reason, Short Stay parking in the garage near the terminal is the most popular. Whether for half an hour, a few hours or a few days, this is the most economical option. If you want to park a little closer to the terminal, you can do so in the same garage, but on the ground floor. This is also called Priority Parking and is slightly more expensive. If you want to park the car, leave it on the ground floor with a member of the staff and walk directly to the terminal for check-in.
Southampton Airport Terminal
The air facility divides its operations into several priority services, such as its ticket offices. You will have TUI Airways, Eastern Airways, KLM, or Loganair airlines at your disposal for SOU departures.
The terminal can accommodate 1.5 million people per year, with more than 20 thousand Southampton departures yearly. The terminal has 12 gates, two boarding lounges, 19 check-in offices, shops, and parking. The airport operates with a single runway to process Southampton flight departures that is 5,653 feet long.
If you travel from the air terminal, you can take destinations such as New York, Madrid, Istanbul, etc. but then you need a stopover. Many of these flights are by scale so that you prepare and try to have the best trip.
Hotels
If you want to stay really close to the hotel and have an early departure then we recommend Premier Inn Southampton Airport hotel. This is within walking distance, gets many good reviews and is relatively cheap. There aren’t very many other options in the area. You can, however, stay a short distance from the airport at The Concorde, DoubleTree by Hilton Southampton, Village Hotel Southampton Eastleigh or Holiday Inn Southampton-Eastleigh M3,Jct13, an IHG Hotel.
