About Edinburgh International airport arrivals
Edinburgh airport is located in the Ingliston area of Edinburgh in Scotland. The airport is the busiest airport in Scotland, and this is the sixth busiest airport in the UK in terms of Edinburgh flight arrivals. This airport is operated and owned by Global Infrastructure Partners. In 2019 there were 130,016 aircraft movements and 14.7 million passengers that used the Edinburgh airport.
History of Edinburgh Airport
This airport originally a defense airbase during world war 1 and used by the Royal Flying corps for Edinburgh flight arrivals. After world war 2 in the late 1940’s airports start providing services to commercial flights, with runways, and after that the new passenger terminal was built.
In 1971, the British airport authority took ownership and made new improvements in the terminals and runways. In 2013 a further expansion plan is made but the planned withdrawal in 2018. Despite the withdrawal the airport kept going more and more yearly Edinburgh Airport arrivals.

The location of the airport is in Ingliston, Edinburgh in Scotland. This is 6 miles west of the city centre.

EDI Arrivals Edinburgh Airport map check-in and baggage claim
If you arrive at the airport by either car, taxi, bus or train you walk in the terminal for check-in. After security you go through security to the boarding area and depart. On Edinburgh Airport arrivals you go through passport control to baggage claim. There is one area for the domestic arrivals and 2 areas for international arrivals, on the left and right side of the terminal.
Directions:
- To city centre of Edinburgh: Head northeast toward Eastfield Rd. Exit the roundabout onto Eastfield Rd and at the roundabout take the 1st exit and continue on Eastfield Rd. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the ramp onto the A8 towards Edinburgh/City Byp/A720. Merge onto Glasgow Rd/the A8. Continue on to Haymarket Terrace. Continue on to Clifton Terrace to get to the center of town.
- To Glasgow: Join the M9 from Eastfield Rd and Glasgow Rd/A8. Follow the M8 to Canal St in Glasgow. Take exit 16 from the M8. Take Dobbie’s Loan/A804 and N Hanover St to Glasgow’s Killermont St.
Public transport
- Train: if you want to travel by train you will first have to take the tram to one of the train stations. The nearest is Edinburgh Gateway. Several other cities can be reached from here. If you want to go to Glasgow you have to go to Edinburgh Park by tram. Some rail services are ScotRail but also TransPennine Express and CrossCountry.
- Bus: there are several bus services such as the Skylink 100, 200 and 400 to the city. If you travel with the Airlink you can simply buy a ticket from the bus driver. If you are traveling to the city of Glasgow you must take the Citylink AIR Glasgow Service 900. To Dundee on the Xplore Dundee X90 service and to Stirling on the Citylink 909. Buses to other cities can be found south of the car park.
- Tram: this is perhaps the simplest option of public transport. Travel quickly to the city center in half an hour with departures from the airport every 7-15 minutes. The tram stop is right next to the terminal. Some stops include Ingliston Park & Ride, Edinburg Gateway, Park Central and Station, Balgreen, Murrayfield Stadium, Haymarket, West End, Princes Street and St. Andrew Square. You have to buy tram tickets at the vending machines. This is not possible in the tram itself.
