Phuket International Airport is a popular airport in Thailand due to its good beach location. Depending on which city you want to be from this airport you will have to travel about 20-30 miles to Phuket Town, Karon or Kata. Count on 45-60 minutes by taxi at 800-1000 THB. With the bus you can also travel alone considerably longer. There are several terminals at the airport. There are international HKT departures and arrivals at terminal 1. This is a new terminal which has led to significant growth for international traffic. Terminal is for all domestic Phuket departures.
About 90 percent of all flights go to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang International Airport). Often the international airport is used as a hub when there are no direct flights to Phuket. Most other domestic flights go to Chiang Mai, Samui or Rayong / Pattaya. The older but renovated terminal 2 is used for this. Then there is also a terminal 3 which is used for charter flights or when the other terminals are busy. In recent years, the airport transported 18 million passengers with some 115,000 Phuket Airport departures and arrivals. Major international flights here were routes to Singapore, Hong Kong, Doha, Beijing, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Seoul and Moscow. Most of the airlines featured: Aeroflot, AirAsia, Air China, Azur Air, Bangkok Airways, TUI Airways, Thai Vietjet Air, Thai Smile, Thai Lion Air, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, Shanghai Airlines, Scoot, Qatar Airways , Pegas Fly, Nok Air, Malaysia Airlines, Malindo Air.
