History of Reus Airport
The history of Reus airport goes back to 1935. Two runways were created a year later for Reus airport arrivals. These were only 850 and 1100 meters long. It only really opened for civil flights after the war. A new runway of even 2200 meters was also made. In the 1960’s the package holiday became popular and Reus airport was also used for that. Due to the increase in Reus arrivals, a new terminal building had to be built in 1974. It was soon expanded and renewed several times. It wasn’t until 2004 that it passed the million passengers per year. This growth resulted in a new Reus arrivals hall as well as a new check-in terminal. Now everything was brought together to run everything even better. Not long ago, in 2021, expansion works were once again completed at the terminal.
