About Ibiza Airport Departures
The airport of Ibiza (IATA abbreviation: IBZ) is the gateway to the Balearic islands of Ibiza and Formentera. The airport started out as a military airport in World War II. There were some flights for tourists soon after but that soon stopped. Only a year after of the commercial Ibiza departures to destinations on the Balearic Islands started. It is an international airport that is very popular among the holidaymaker. Flights will be offered throughout the year. More than 8 million passengers use Ibiza Airport every year. The airport is located in the south of the Spanish island. Aena is the operator of the airport Enaire owns. Many of the Ibiza departures are operated by Ryanair and Vueling. In addition, there are many more from all over Europe that operate seasonal flights. All the Ibiza airport departures arrive on the only 9,186 feet (2,800 meters) runway.
Passenger statistics
In 2019, 8,155,635 passengers used the airport. These were a total of 75,378 IBZ departures in that year. Because it is a holiday destination, there have been significantly fewer flights due to the Corona virus in 2020 and still in 2021. This has put an end to the steady growth of Ibiza flight departures.
