About

Lithuania’s IATA opened its doors on August 17, 1932, served for WWII, and resumed in 1960. It is a public airport operated by SE and offers hub flights with GetJet Airlines and AirBaltic. From this airport, Ryanair and Wizz Air lend their operations taking it as the focus city.

Location

The international airport is located 3.7 miles south of the capital city of Vilnius in Lithuania. It is the largest airport in the country and the most important for commercial flights in Europe.

Transport

You can get to the airport and have several public transport services such as:

• Bus

You can take the Toks company bus that will take you to Vilnius or vice versa in a 30-minute journey. Outside the airport, you can take intercity routes to Palanga, Klaipeda, Daugavpils, or Minsk.

•Train

You can go to the airport train station called “oro uostas,” which will take you to the city center in 7 minutes. These train services run most of the day, and you will have to wait for them at the terminal for 10 minutes.

Track

The airport operates with a single runway that has an asphalt and concrete surface. This runway has an address 19-01 and is 8,250 feet long by 85 feet wide. The runway was renovated in 2019 to ensure safe landings.

Terminal

The airport terminal has been in operation since 1954 and has been renovated more than three times. In 2007, a new 11,000square-foot building was inaugurated in which most of the airlines operate. Terminals T1 and T2 have 20 boarding gates and accommodate up to 8 million passengers per year.

In Terminal 2, you will find most of the departure lounges for international flights and a VIP lounge. You will find all the retail stores, car rental, train station, and business room in this terminal.
