History Goa Dabolim
The airport was built in 1955 by the Portuguese. It was the main gateway for the carrier TAIP. In 1961, Goa Airport was bombed by the Air Force of India. The Indian Navy eventually took over the area a year later. The runway had to be renewed before flights could take place again. It was not until 1983 that a new terminal was built for domestic transport. The international terminal was not built until more than 10 years later. In 2006 there was a new plan to upgrade Dabolim Airport. Eventually there was 1 large terminal for both domestic and international flights. There were many parking options for both cars and planes. This was put into operation in 2013.
