Asturias Airport is the only international airport in the Asturias region, located in the municipality of Castrillón. The airport is located west of the cities of Avilés and Gijón, the latter being the largest city in the region. Asturias Airport is located northwest of the capital of Asturias, Oviedo. The region is known for its green landscapes, high mountains and beautiful beaches. Asturias Airport has a relatively small terminal and was last modernized in 2003. At the airport you will find the head office of the Spanish low-cost company Volotea, which flies from the airport to various destinations at home and abroad.

Bus transportation – Alsa (Avilés, Gijón and Oviedo)
The Alsa bus company offers direct bus connections from Asturias Airport to the cities of Avilés, Gijón and Oviedo. Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. a bus runs every hour to Gijón, stops are made in Piedras Blancas, Salinas and Avilés. Between 7 pm and 11.45 pm the bus runs only once in the hour and a half. A bus ride to Avilés takes 25 minutes, and to Gijón / Xixón you are around 45 minutes away. The cost for a ride to Avilés is € 4.50, a single journey to Gijón costs € 9.00.

To Oviedo you take another bus, namely the bus to Oviedo. This runs without stopping en route to the capital of the region. The travel time to Oviedo is approximately 45 minutes and the bus runs just like the bus to Gijón once every hour between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and every 90 minutes between 7 p.m. and 11.45 p.m. The costs for a trip to Oviedo are € 9.00.
